Overview

Our Cooking and Walking Holidays Spain strike a balance between cooking, exploring our region, and walking in the spectacular Ordesa National Park. Our journey will take us from the high mountains to the foothills of the Pyrenees. Here we will discover the produce of the region, and with this in hand we will create some delicious dishes in our kitchen.

You will be staying at our renovated 17th century farmhouse, within the Pyrenees Geopark, a site recognised by UNESCO as of geological importance. We are Simon and Lucy your hosts, and the majority of the cookery classes will be held in our spacious guest house kitchen. Simon is a passionate cook and very creative, Lucy has a background in food science. Together we make a great team, always full of fun.

The group size is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Our Guest Reviews

Please take a few minutes to read some of our Cooking Walking Holiday Reviews Spain, 2015/2016.

Ainsa at Dusk

“If you’re into Spanish cuisine, mountain walking, abandoned villages, vulture culture, finding the ocean on top of Pyrenean mountains and crossing the Greenwich Meridian now and again, olives, wine, Aragonese chimneys, renovating old houses, pine martens, wild boar, deer, hippopotami (I might have made that last one up!) then you will find the enthusiasm of Simon and Lucy for all these things, and others, most entertaining and informative, and very well planned in an extemporaneous kind of way! A great place to spend a week.

Just be warned, you might, on occasion, have to cook your own dinner and fight their children for pudding!”

Jerry Stuart. London. May 2017.

“I spent an absolutely fantastic week at Casa Allue on a Walking and Cooking holiday.

Visiting an artisan producer of infusions on Cooking Walking Holiday Reviews Spain

Visiting an artisan producer of infusions

Lucy and Simon are perfect hosts, sharing their love and knowledge of the area and how you can experience it, from walking to wildlife, food to photography.

This part of the Pyrenees is outstanding for walking; it’s stunningly beautiful. It’s an interesting place too – we learnt so about geology, plants, history and wildlife from both Lucy and Simon and our excellent local guide.

The cooking part, led by Simon, was relaxed and great fun, and was supplemented by trips to local olive oil, goats cheese, infusion (tea and spirits) and wine producers.

Ordesa on the 4x4 trip on Cooking Walking Holiday Reviews Spain

The Ordesa valley on the 4×4 trip

Lucy and Simon worked so hard to meet the needs of our small group – including making sure our schedule made the most of the weather. The farmhouse, which they’ve renovated themselves, is comfortable and made the perfect base to return to.

From my experience, I’d unreservedly recommend their Aragon Active holidays or Casa Allue as a base from to explore this fantastic area independently.

It really couldn’t have been any better.”

Martina. Wivenhoe. October 2016. Solo traveler.

“Just back from an amazing week walking and cooking in the Spanish Pyrenees based at Casa Allué, Albella, a beautifully restored rustic farmhouse. The hosts were fantastic and saw to our every need, delicious food and the group good fun.

Cookery Masterclass on Cooking and Walking Holiday Reviews Spain

Cookery Workshop

We learn’t and experienced so much, from the cooking workshops and the masterclass at a wonderful hotel, to walking in the Ordesa national park. We visited the awe inspiring lake of the Moorish woman and got close to the high peak of Monte Perdido. There were so many great excursions and we saw wonderful wildlife including golden eagles, and vultures, all in their natural habitat. I would definitely recommend this holiday – 5 stars!”

Jayne. South East. October 2015.
